Post-Stroke Rehabilitation
A home-based neuro rehabilitation programme helped a gentleman regain mobility and confidence following a stroke, returning to independent walking indoors.
Following a left-sided stroke, the patient had significant right-sided weakness, poor balance and low confidence with walking. He was reliant on family for most transfers and unable to climb the stairs in his home.
We delivered a structured neuro-physiotherapy programme at home: task-specific gait re-education, sit-to-stand practice, balance retraining and a graded strengthening plan. Family were coached to safely assist between sessions.
By week 4 the patient could transfer independently and walk short distances with a frame. Balance and right-leg strength improved steadily, and stair practice began in week 6.
After the programme the patient was walking independently indoors, managing the stairs with supervision, and had regained the confidence to move around his home safely.
