Post Hip Replacement Rehabilitation
Early home-based rehabilitation supported a confident, independent recovery following total hip replacement surgery.
Following total hip replacement the patient had reduced strength, a cautious walking pattern with crutches, and uncertainty about safe movement and hip precautions.
We provided early mobilisation, gait re-education, progressive hip and leg strengthening, and clear guidance on safe movement, precautions and stair technique.
The patient progressed from two crutches to one, then to independent walking. Strength and walking pattern normalised over the programme.
The patient returned to independent walking without aids, managed stairs confidently, and resumed normal daily activities and short local walks.
