Physiotherapy Services in Airdrie
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Airdrie premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Airdrie grew as a weaving and then coal and iron town in the old Monklands parish of North Lanarkshire, and the domed clock steeple of the former town hall still marks the centre. Graham Street and Stirling Street form the main shopping area, while Airdrieonians play at the Excelsior Stadium on the east side of town. It is a hilly place, with roads climbing from the Calder valley towards Petersburn and Clarkston.
Homes range from Victorian sandstone tenements near the centre to sprawling post-war council schemes, with recent private housing filling former colliery and works land. Tenement closes mean shared stairs with no lift, often two or three flights to a second-floor flat, so getting up and down safely is usually the first thing families ask about. Bungalows in Glenmavis and Chapelhall are easier, though many have a step or two at the back door.
The Airdrie to Bathgate railway, reopened in 2010, gives direct trains from Airdrie and Drumgelloch to both Glasgow and Edinburgh, and the old line beside it carries a cycle and walking path towards Caldercruix. Centenary Park and the paths around Petersburn give flatter loops for people rebuilding stamina after time in hospital.
NHS Lanarkshire runs University Hospital Monklands, which sits in Airdrie itself, and the North Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership arranges community nursing and rehabilitation. Our sessions are private and separate from those services, but we are happy to pick up exercises the ward or community team began and keep them going at home.
Many patients we hear about are older people who worked in the steelworks, the mines or local factories and now live with arthritis, breathing problems or the effects of a stroke. Short, regular practice of the exact routes they use each day, such as the close stairs, the walk to the bus stop or the trip to the shops on Graham Street, tends to matter more than anything done in a gym.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.
