Physiotherapy Services in Northern Ireland
This is the Northern Ireland region page for Home Physio And Rehab. It is a signpost that explains how our Northern Ireland pages are organised, so you can go straight to the hub nearest the home where treatment would happen. Two hubs sit beneath it: Belfast & East Northern Ireland and Derry & West Northern Ireland. Town pages will be added under each hub over time.
We do not have a clinic, office or branch in Northern Ireland. Home Physio And Rehab is a home-visit company registered in Harrow, north-west London, and the physiotherapist who visits may travel a considerable distance. A visit can only be arranged where a suitable clinician is available, so please treat the places on this page as a description of the region, not a promise. The postcode checker gives the real answer.
Health and social care work differently in Northern Ireland than elsewhere in the UK. Services are delivered through an integrated Health and Social Care system, usually called HSC, and five HSC trusts provide both hospital care and community and social care: Belfast, South Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western. That means the same trust that treated you in hospital is often the one that arranges community rehabilitation, domiciliary care and equipment afterwards. Private physiotherapy at home does not replace any of this. It can be added alongside it, and we are happy to plan around existing visits.
Local government is also different. Northern Ireland has eleven councils, created in 2015, but social care is the responsibility of the HSC trusts rather than councils. Housing adaptations such as stairlifts and level-access showers are usually arranged through the trust's occupational therapists together with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, which also administers Disabled Facilities Grants for privately owned homes.
Urgent care is organised differently too. There is no NHS 111 service in Northern Ireland. Out of hours, urgent medical advice comes from your local GP out-of-hours service, and in an emergency you should always dial 999.
The geography ranges from the Belfast urban area and the commuter towns of Lisburn, Bangor and Newtownabbey, through the Antrim coast and the farmland of Mid Ulster, to the Sperrin Mountains, the lakes of Fermanagh and the north-west city of Derry~Londonderry. Red-brick terraces, bungalows and farmhouses with long lanes each shape what rehabilitation needs to focus on.
Home Physio And Rehab arranges visits only to addresses in the United Kingdom, so we cannot visit homes across the border in the Republic of Ireland, even where they are close by. Where a visit is possible, sessions usually focus on walking, stairs, getting in and out of bed and chairs, and recovering after an operation, a stroke or a fall.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
