Physiotherapy Services in Wales
This is the Wales region page for Home Physio And Rehab. It works as a signpost: it explains how our Welsh pages are arranged so you can reach the hub nearest to the home where treatment would take place. Three hubs sit beneath it: Cardiff & South East Wales, Swansea, West & Mid Wales, and North Wales. Town pages will be added under each hub over time, and a town without its own page is not ruled out.
We do not have a clinic, office or branch in Wales. Home Physio And Rehab is a home-visit company registered in Harrow, north-west London, and the physiotherapist who comes to you may travel some distance. Whether a visit is possible depends on your full postcode and on which clinicians are free when you get in touch, so the place names here describe the country rather than promise a visit. The postcode checker is the reliable answer.
Healthcare in Wales is organised differently from England. NHS Wales is run by seven local health boards, which plan both hospital and community services, rather than by the integrated care boards used over the border. If you have been in hospital, your discharge letter will usually come from one of these boards, and any community physiotherapy or reablement offered afterwards is arranged through the health board together with your council's social services. Private physiotherapy at home does not replace that care. It can sit alongside it, and we are happy to plan around visits you already have.
Local government is different too. Wales has twenty-two principal councils, some styled county councils and some county borough councils, and they handle social care assessments, home adaptations and the Disabled Facilities Grant. If a grab rail, a stairlift or a level-access shower would make rehabilitation safer, your physiotherapist can explain what to ask your council for.
Geography shapes almost every home programme. The south-east is the most densely populated corner, with Cardiff, Newport and the former mining valleys running north towards Bannau Brycheiniog, the Brecon Beacons. The south-west and mid Wales stretch from Swansea Bay to Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Powys, where homes can be many miles apart and roads are slow. North Wales follows the A55 coast from Wrexham and Flintshire to Anglesey, with Eryri, or Snowdonia, rising behind. Valley terraces cut into steep hillsides, farmhouses with uneven stone floors and seaside bungalows each bring different problems for walking, stairs and getting outdoors.
Welsh and English are both official languages here. We cannot promise a Welsh-speaking physiotherapist, but if you or a relative would be more comfortable in Welsh, tell us when you enquire and we will be honest about whether that can be arranged.
A physiotherapist visiting at home usually works on walking indoors and outside, getting in and out of bed and chairs, managing stairs, and rebuilding strength after an illness, an operation or a fall. Exercises are planned around the furniture, steps and routes you actually use, which tends to be more practical than a programme designed on a clinic floor.
