Clinician Identification & Verification Policy

Home Physio & Rehab recognises that a patient or carer should have a straightforward way to establish:

1. the identity of the person attending;
2. whether they were assigned by Home Physio & Rehab; and
3. whether their professional status can be verified.

When an appointment is confirmed, your confirmation includes the professional name of the assigned clinician, the appointment date and time, an appointment reference, and our verification telephone number and email address. If the assigned clinician changes, we will tell you.

An appointment will not automatically be treated as a cancellation or non-attendance because treatment could not proceed following a genuine unresolved verification or safety concern. See section C of our Cancellation Policy.

Home Physio & Rehab verifies applicable professional registration as part of its clinician onboarding and compliance procedures.

We do not routinely publish or automatically include an individual clinician's HCPC registration number in standard appointment confirmations, public therapist profiles, marketing communications or general website pages.

This reduces unnecessary circulation of individual professional identifiers and the opportunity for inappropriate copying or misuse.

This policy does not mean that information appearing on an official professional register is legally confidential.

Where a patient, carer or appropriately authorised representative explicitly requests the assigned clinician's HCPC registration information for legitimate professional-verification purposes, Home Physio & Rehab will provide appropriate assistance. This may include providing the relevant registration number or assisting the requester to verify the clinician using the official HCPC Register.

Reasonable identity, appointment or authority verification may be carried out before patient-specific information is disclosed.

You can check any physiotherapist's registration yourself on the official HCPC Register at https://www.hcpc-uk.org/check-the-register/. We encourage patients to do so where it gives them confidence.

Contact us by telephone or email and explicitly request the assigned clinician's professional registration information for verification. Where an appointment has been confirmed, you can also use the "Request clinician registration details" option in your appointment communications where available. We may carry out reasonable identity, appointment or authority checks before disclosing patient-specific information, and we will then either provide the registration number or help you verify the clinician on the HCPC Register.

Clinicians may carry personal photographic identification (for example a driving licence or passport). Photographic identification can help establish a person's personal identity, but it does not by itself prove HCPC registration. Registration is confirmed through our onboarding checks and, where you wish, through the official HCPC Register.

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is the statutory regulator for physiotherapists in the UK. Anyone using the protected title "physiotherapist" must be registered with the HCPC.

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) is a professional membership body. CSP membership (often shown as "MCSP") is voluntary and is not a statutory registration. Where a clinician's profile refers to CSP membership, this reflects information provided by that clinician.
