Physiotherapy Services in Aldeburgh
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Aldeburgh premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Aldeburgh is a small coastal town on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, known for its Tudor Moot Hall, its long shingle beach and its links with the composer Benjamin Britten. Maggi Hambling's steel Scallop sculpture, dedicated to Britten, stands on the beach towards Thorpeness.
The seafront promenade is level and runs close to the High Street, which makes it a useful first walk after an operation. The shingle itself is hard going, so we treat walking on the beach as a later goal rather than an early one.
Fishermen still sell their catch from huts on the beach, and the High Street has shops, cafes and the well-known fish and chip shops. Walking to the High Street and standing in a queue are practical targets we often build towards.
Many residents are retired, and homes range from Victorian villas and cottages to bungalows. Stairs, bathroom access and getting up from low sofas come up frequently on our visits here.
Surgery and emergency care for people in Aldeburgh is usually provided at Ipswich Hospital, and private home physiotherapy can continue once someone is back at home.
Snape Maltings, a short trip inland, hosts the Aldeburgh Festival and concerts through the year. Getting back to a concert, with its steps and seating, is a goal several of our patients have had.
Coastal wind can be strong along the front, and the beach slopes steeply in places. We practise balance on uneven ground before suggesting longer walks along the shore.

Support to improve breathing, endurance and recovery for respiratory and cardiac conditions.

Helping people living with persistent or complex pain improve function and quality of life.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.
