Physiotherapy Services in Aylesbury
Home Physio And Rehab is based in Harrow, north-west London, and has no clinic or office in Aylesbury. Every appointment is a home visit, and the physiotherapist who visits you may be based elsewhere and travel to your home. Whether we can see you depends on your postcode and on therapist availability at the time you ask.
Aylesbury is the county town of Buckinghamshire, with a historic market square and old town at its centre and large estates built around it from the 1960s onwards. Bedgrove, Southcourt and Walton Court have post-war houses and bungalows, while newer areas such as Fairford Leys, Watermead, Berryfields and Kingsbrook have modern homes, often with downstairs toilets and level access.
The town sits in the Vale of Aylesbury and is generally flat, which helps during recovery. Vale Park in the centre, the lake at Watermead and the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal offer level walking routes. Our sessions often begin with getting around the home and progress to walks to local shops, the town centre or around the lake.
Stoke Mandeville Hospital provides emergency and planned care for the area and is home to the National Spinal Injuries Centre. We are independent of the hospital and of the NHS, and your records will not be sent to us automatically, so please have your discharge letter and any precautions ready when we first speak.
The old town of Aylesbury has narrow lanes, cobbles and timber-framed buildings around St Mary's Church, which contrast with the modern Waterside Theatre and shopping area near the canal basin. Market Square has a statue of John Hampden and level paving that make it a good place to stop and rest. Many people use the Chiltern Railways line to Marylebone or travel out to villages in the Vale such as Wendover, Haddenham and Bierton. The Chiltern Hills rise sharply to the south, and walks up Coombe Hill near Wendover are a long-term goal for some people who are steadily getting stronger.
