Beverley is a historic market town in the East Riding of Yorkshire, dominated by Beverley Minster and St Mary's Church. The Saturday Market and Wednesday Market squares, the North Bar gateway and narrow streets of Georgian and Victorian buildings make up its compact centre, which is mostly level and easy to explore once walking is building up again.
Housing ranges from historic townhouses with steep stairs in the centre and Keldgate to post-war and modern estates in Molescroft, Swinemoor and Grovehill, and newer developments at Woodmansey. Nearby villages such as Tickton and Walkington depend on the car. Many older people live in bungalows or sheltered housing. We adapt to each home.
The Westwood, an expanse of common pasture to the west of the town beside the racecourse, offers open walking with gentle slopes, and the beck and river paths are flatter. Beverley station has trains to Hull and Scarborough. Typical goals include walking into the markets, managing the train or walking on the Westwood again.
Many Beverley residents are treated at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham or Hull Royal Infirmary. We are independent of the NHS, so please keep your discharge summary and any restrictions to hand. We then plan exercises that suit your home, routine and recovery goals.
Beverley is a market town in the East Riding, known for its Minster, St Mary's Church and the Westwood, a large common of open pasture. The medieval North Bar marks the old entrance to the town. The Saturday Market and Wednesday Market squares have level paving. Clients often want to walk across the Westwood or into town again, and we plan steadily towards that.
