Physiotherapy Services in Bexley
Bexley is a south-east London borough on the border with Kent. It takes in Bexleyheath, Welling, Sidcup, Blackfen, Bexley village, Crayford, Erith, Belvedere and part of Abbey Wood and Thamesmead. This page covers the borough as a whole. Dartford is just over the border in Kent and has its own page, and Abbey Wood and Thamesmead are shared with Greenwich, so please use the postcode checker to confirm where you are.
We do not operate a clinic in Bexley; our physiotherapy appointments are provided in patients' homes. The physiotherapist who visits may live some distance away and travel to you. Whether a visit is possible depends on your exact postcode and on who is available at the time, so please use the postcode checker on this page rather than relying on the name of your street or neighbourhood.
Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup is a community hospital managed by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, with services including an urgent care centre and rehabilitation, but it does not have a full A&E department. For emergency and inpatient care many residents go to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford or the Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough. Home Physio And Rehab is an independent service and is not part of any of these hospitals or of the NHS. Have your discharge paperwork ready for the first appointment.
Much of Bexley is suburban, with interwar semi-detached and terraced houses in Bexleyheath, Welling, Sidcup and Blackfen, often with a front step, a side passage and a tight turn at the top of the stairs. There are also bungalows, newer flats near Erith and along the river, and walkway estates in Thamesmead. Getting safely to the garden and back, and in and out of the car, are frequent early goals alongside the stairs.
Longer-term goals are often the Broadway in Bexleyheath, Sidcup High Street, a walk around the lake in Danson Park, the gardens at Hall Place, the riverside at Erith, or the woodland paths of Lesnes Abbey Woods. Your physiotherapist will agree goals with you and work up to them at a comfortable pace.
