Physiotherapy Services in Bishop's Waltham
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Bishop's Waltham premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Bishop's Waltham is a small market town in the Winchester district of Hampshire, at the source of the River Hamble. It grew up around a palace of the Bishops of Winchester, whose ruins still stand by the town pond.
The palace was once one of the grandest medieval residences in England, and kings and bishops stayed there. Today the ruins and their grounds are a peaceful spot, with level paths and benches beside the water.
The High Street, Houchin Street and Basingwell Street have independent shops, pubs and cafés. The centre is fairly compact and level, which makes walking to the shops a realistic early goal after an operation or a fall.
Housing includes old brick cottages and Georgian townhouses in the centre and newer homes on the edges of town. We often help people with narrow stairs, uneven floors and getting in and out of the bath or shower.
Bishop's Waltham falls within NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board. Residents are usually treated at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester or Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, and after discharge we can continue rehabilitation privately at home.
The town has no railway station, so people rely on buses to Winchester, Southampton and Fareham, or on cars. Safe car transfers and managing the bus step are practical skills we often work on.
Swanmore, Waltham Chase and Durley are villages surrounded by farmland and woods. The old railway line towards Botley is now a footpath, which offers level walking once confidence outdoors returns.
The surrounding countryside is gently rolling, so we prepare people for slopes, stiles and uneven ground before they head out on longer walks.
Locals know the Jubilee Hall, the Priory Park playing fields and the Moors nature reserve, a quiet area of springs and wet woodland where the Hamble begins. Many residents aim to stroll from the square to the pond and back without needing to stop.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.
