Physiotherapy Services in Calne
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Calne premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Calne is a Wiltshire market town on the River Marden, close to the Marlborough Downs. For much of the twentieth century it was dominated by the Harris bacon factory, which employed a large share of the town until it closed in the 1980s. Joseph Priestley, working at nearby Bowood House in 1774, is credited with discovering oxygen, and the town remembers him with a statue on the Strand.
The old centre around the Strand, Church Street and the Green has stone cottages and Georgian houses, while Lickhill, Quemerford and Abberd have post-war estates and bungalows. Large new developments, including Marden Farm, have added modern family homes on the edges. The town is built on rising ground either side of the river, so most routes include a slope somewhere.
Castlefields Canal and River Park, along the route of the old Calne branch of the Wilts and Berks Canal, has level paths beside the Marden, ideal for building walking. The Bowood estate and its lake offer longer outings, and the Phelps Parade and Strand shops cover most errands. Calne has no railway station, so buses to Chippenham are the main link to trains.
Most hospital care is provided at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon or the Royal United Hospital in Bath, with community services at Chippenham Community Hospital. Local NHS planning is led by the integrated care board covering Wiltshire, Swindon and the Bath area. We visit independently and fit around any community team already involved.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.
