Physiotherapy Services in Chard
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Chard premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Chard, the southernmost town in Somerset, sits high on a ridge near the Devon and Dorset borders. Rainwater falling on one side of Fore Street flows towards the Bristol Channel and on the other towards the English Channel, and little streams once ran openly along the main street in stone gullies.
The town proudly claims the birthplace of powered flight: in 1848 John Stringfellow flew a steam-driven model aircraft inside a lace mill here, and Chard Museum on High Street tells his story alongside early artificial limbs invented locally by James Gillingham. Lace and engineering factories employed much of the population for generations.
The handsome Guildhall, with its columned front, faces Fore Street, and the Chard Festival of Women in Music has brought performers to town each spring. Chard Reservoir Local Nature Reserve, on the northern edge, has a gentle circuit through meadow and woodland where herons and kingfishers are often seen.
Housing ranges from Georgian and Victorian buildings in the centre to post-war estates at Crimchard and Avishayes and large newer developments towards Tatworth. Forde Abbey, with its terraced gardens and fountain, is a short drive south and a common outing for families.
NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board organises local care. Chard Community Hospital provides some services, while most operations take place at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton or Yeovil District Hospital. We continue recovery in patients' own homes, cutting down on long journeys.
Ambitions people share include walking the reservoir circuit, browsing the Fore Street shops, or getting back to skittles at the local pub.

Helping people living with persistent or complex pain improve function and quality of life.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.
