Physiotherapy Services in Chelmsford
Chelmsford is the county town of Essex and was granted city status in 2012. It sits where the River Chelmer and the River Can meet, between London and Colchester, and the city council area reaches out to villages such as Writtle, Danbury and Great Baddow. Home Physio And Rehab has no clinic or office in Chelmsford. We treat people in their own homes, and the physiotherapist who comes to you may travel from some distance. Whether we can arrange visits depends on your exact postcode and on who is available, so please check it with the tool on this page.
Homes in Chelmsford range widely. Moulsham and the streets south of the centre have Victorian and Edwardian terraces; Springfield, Broomfield and Great Baddow have large areas of post-war semis and bungalows; and Chelmer Village and the newer estates to the north-east, around Beaulieu, have modern houses and flats, often with narrower stairs than older homes and parking in shared courts. These are examples rather than a coverage list, and your postcode is what matters.
Broomfield Hospital, on the northern edge of the city, is part of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust and treats emergencies and fractures as well as planned surgery. Many people come home from there, while others will have been treated in London or at another Essex hospital. Home Physio And Rehab is independent of the NHS and of the trust. Please have your discharge letter and any precautions ready for your first visit so we can continue the plan you were given.
Essex is fairly flat, but that does not make getting about easy after a fall or an operation. In commuter households you may be alone at home for much of the day, so an early aim is often getting safely to the kitchen, the bathroom and the front door without help, and knowing what to do if you feel unsteady. We plan sessions around your own rooms and routines, and give you exercises you can manage between visits.
Later goals tend to be outside: a walk along the riverside path by the Chelmer, a trip to the shops in the city centre, or a stroll in Hylands Park or Central Park. If you used to drive, we can work on getting in and out of the car before you return to it, following any advice from your surgeon or GP.
The East of England page explains how Chelmsford fits into the wider hub alongside towns and cities in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
