We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Clitheroe is the main town of the Ribble Valley in Lancashire, beneath the brooding bulk of Pendle Hill. Its Norman castle keep, one of the smallest in England, sits on a limestone outcrop above the town, with a museum and landscaped grounds around it. The town centre, on Castle Street, King Street and Moor Lane, is full of independent shops, butchers and delis.
The castle grounds are steep in places, with paths winding up to the keep, so they make a good target once people are walking more confidently. Gentler routes run along the River Ribble at Brungerley Bridge and Edisford, and the Ribble Way follows the valley north towards Waddington.
Housing ranges from stone terraces in the centre to post-war estates at Low Moor and Henthorn and newer homes on the outskirts. Clitheroe and the surrounding villages have many older residents, and the hilly lanes and stone steps are a regular part of rehabilitation goals.
Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board plans NHS services. People from Clitheroe are usually treated at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, with some services at Clitheroe Community Hospital. Our private home physiotherapy carries on the rehabilitation after discharge.
Clitheroe station is the terminus of the Ribble Valley line, with trains to Blackburn and Manchester. Getting up to the castle, browsing the market and taking the train to Blackburn are typical milestones for patients.
