Physiotherapy Services in Clydebank
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Clydebank premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Clydebank was built by shipbuilding. John Brown's yard launched the Queen Mary and the QE2 here, and the Titan Crane still stands over the redeveloped waterfront. The town was devastated in the Clydebank Blitz of March 1941, and much of today's housing dates from the rebuilding that followed: post-war flats and houses in Faifley, Drumry and Parkhall, and some of the Radnor Park tower blocks.
Tower blocks and walk-up flats bring particular challenges. Lifts can be out of order, and getting from a flat to the street can involve long corridors and heavy doors. In older cottage flats and terraced houses in Dalmuir and Duntocher, the stair is usually the main issue. We plan exercises around the route you actually take from your front door.
The Forth and Clyde Canal cuts through the middle of Clydebank; its towpath is flat, sheltered and ideal for building walking stamina. The Clyde Shopping Centre sits beside it, so many people combine a canal walk with errands. Dalmuir Park is another popular target, and Clydebank, Dalmuir and Singer stations give links into Glasgow.
The Golden Jubilee University National Hospital in Clydebank performs a large share of Scotland's planned hip and knee replacements, so many of our patients here are recovering from joint surgery. Local hospital and community care is provided by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership. We follow your surgeon's precautions and the advice you were given on discharge.
