Physiotherapy Services in Congleton
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Congleton premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Congleton is a market town in Cheshire East, near the Staffordshire border, nicknamed Bear Town after a story about the townspeople selling their Bible to buy a new bear for bear-baiting. Its Victorian Gothic town hall on the High Street and the narrow streets around Lawton Street give the centre real character, though some pavements are narrow and sloping.
The River Dane runs through the town, and Congleton Park beside it has level paths, a café and gardens, making it a good early outdoor goal. The Macclesfield Canal passes along the eastern side, with flat towpath walks and its distinctive snake bridges. For people who enjoyed hill walking, the Cloud, a gritstone hill above Timbersbrook, is a longer-term goal.
Housing includes older terraces near the centre and Mossley, interwar and post-war estates in Buglawton and West Heath, and newer developments towards Bradshaw House and Somerford. The streets that rise towards the hills, especially around Buglawton, involve noticeable slopes. Congleton station, south-east of the town centre, has trains to Manchester and Stoke, and many people want to manage it again.
Congleton War Memorial Hospital provides community services, while surgery and emergency care for the town usually take place at Macclesfield District General Hospital or Leighton Hospital near Crewe. NHS services are planned by the Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board. Our physiotherapists are independent, so we are happy to follow on from what the hospital team started.
