Physiotherapy Services in Conisbrough
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Conisbrough premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Conisbrough is a town in the borough of Doncaster, set on a hill above the River Don between Doncaster and Rotherham. It grew around coal mining at Denaby and Cadeby, and the hill gives views over the Don Gorge.
Conisbrough Castle, with its tall cylindrical twelfth-century keep, is one of the finest Norman castles in England and inspired a scene in Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe. English Heritage runs the site, with a visitor centre and grassy grounds.
St Peter's Church is thought to be the oldest building in South Yorkshire, with Anglo-Saxon stonework dating back over a thousand years. The brick Conisbrough Viaduct crosses the Don valley on the eastern side of town.
Housing includes stone terraces near the castle, rows of former colliery homes in Denaby Main, inter-war council estates and newer homes on the edges. Many streets are steep because the town sits on a hill.
NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board commissions care. Conisbrough patients are usually treated at Doncaster Royal Infirmary or Montagu Hospital in Mexborough, and we continue their rehabilitation privately at home after discharge.
Conisbrough station lies on the line between Sheffield and Doncaster, and buses link the town with Doncaster, Rotherham and Mexborough. Typical aims include walking to the castle, the shops or the riverside.
The hill up to the castle is steep, so we practise slopes and pacing at home before attempting the climb to the keep.
The path along the Don below the viaduct is flatter, giving a gentler outdoor walk for the early weeks.
