Physiotherapy Services in Crieff
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Crieff premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Crieff is a hillside town in Perthshire on the edge of the Highlands, overlooking the broad valley of Strathearn. It became a fashionable spa resort in Victorian times, and the Crieff Hydro, opened in 1868, still dominates the slopes above town.
James Square sits at the heart of the town, with steep streets leading off it to shops and cafés. The Glenturret Distillery, one of the oldest in Scotland, is on the outskirts, and Drummond Castle Gardens, a magnificent formal garden, lies a few minutes' drive south.
Macrosty Park, beside the Turret Burn, has flat paths, a bandstand and a café, making it a good place to start walking outdoors again. The Knock of Crieff, a wooded hill above the town, offers rewarding views once patients are stronger.
Housing includes Victorian villas, stone terraces, post-war estates and newer homes on the edges. Many residents are retired, and steep slopes and stairs are common challenges after illness or injury.
NHS Tayside provides local services. Crieff Community Hospital offers some care, while surgery and emergencies usually take place at Perth Royal Infirmary or Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. Our home physiotherapy continues rehabilitation locally.
Goals we hear include walking through Macrosty Park, climbing the Knock or visiting Drummond Castle Gardens again.
Crieff was once the site of a great cattle tryst, where drovers from across the Highlands brought herds to sell each autumn, and the town's market cross recalls those days. Lady Mary's Walk, a beech-lined riverside path beside the Earn, is level and sheltered, ideal for building endurance. The Crieff Highland Gathering in August brings caber tossing, pipe bands and dancing to Market Park, and Comrie's earthquake house, a tiny building with a seismometer, is a curious outing up the glen.
