We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Dalkeith premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Dalkeith is the main town of Midlothian, standing on a ridge between the North Esk and South Esk rivers just before they join. Dalkeith Palace, long the seat of the Dukes of Buccleuch, stands in Dalkeith Country Park, whose woodland walks, bridges and riverside paths are open to the public. The town grew as a market for the surrounding farms and coalfield.
The High Street has older stone buildings and tenements, while Woodburn, Easthouses and Mayfield have large post-war council estates built for mining families. Eskbank has Victorian villas and newer private housing. Many flats have shared stairs and many houses have steps at the front, so stair practice features early.
Eskbank station, on the Borders Railway reopened in 2015, has trains to Edinburgh and Tweedbank, and frequent buses run to Edinburgh. Dalkeith Country Park has level paths near the entrance, with steeper woodland routes for later, and Newbattle Abbey, nearby, has riverside grounds.
NHS Lothian provides hospital care, with the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France as the main acute hospital and Midlothian Community Hospital in Bonnyrigg offering rehabilitation. Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnership arranges community services, and our private visits fit around them.
Many patients are former miners or their families, and arthritis, breathing problems and falls are common. We focus on stairs, the walk to the High Street and safe outdoor walking in the Country Park.

Support to improve breathing, endurance and recovery for respiratory and cardiac conditions.

Helping people living with persistent or complex pain improve function and quality of life.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.
