Physiotherapy Services in Dartmouth
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Dartmouth premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Dartmouth is a historic port town on the west bank of the River Dart estuary in South Devon. Britannia Royal Naval College dominates the hillside above the town, and the river is busy with sailing boats and ferries.
The Embankment and the Boatfloat at the heart of town are level, with views across to Kingswear. Walking along the Embankment is a popular first outing for people regaining strength.
The rest of Dartmouth climbs steeply up the hillside, with narrow lanes and stepped streets. Many homes are reached by steps, and getting to the shops can involve steep slopes.
Dartmouth is covered by NHS Devon Integrated Care Board, and most people are treated at Torbay Hospital. Our private visits can continue rehabilitation once someone is home.
Bayards Cove, with its cobbled quay and old buildings, and Dartmouth Castle, guarding the mouth of the estuary, are favourite spots for residents. Getting back to them is often a key motivation.
Townstal, on the hilltop above, is the more modern part of town with supermarkets and housing estates. The roads between Townstal and the centre are steep, so leg strength and pacing matter.
Ferries link Dartmouth with Kingswear, where the steam railway runs to Paignton. Stepping on and off the ferry is something we sometimes practise with patients.
St Saviour's church, with its carved medieval screen, stands just behind the Butterwalk, the row of seventeenth-century timber houses on Duke Street. The Royal Avenue Gardens beside the Boatfloat have smooth paths and a bandstand for resting between laps.
Above Warfleet, the lane to the castle has a steep pavement and few places to sit, so we usually save it for later sessions.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
