Physiotherapy Services in Dawlish
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Dawlish premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Dawlish is a seaside town on the South Devon coast between Exeter and Teignmouth, famous for its red sandstone cliffs and Brunel's railway, which runs right along the sea wall. In 2014 storms destroyed part of the line, and its rebuilding made national news.
The Lawn, a long park beside Dawlish Water running through the centre, is home to the town's famous black swans, and its level paths are ideal for early walking practice. The sea wall walk towards Dawlish Warren offers flat walking right beside the waves.
Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve, a sand spit at the mouth of the Exe, has dunes, beaches and birdlife, while the Exe Estuary Trail continues towards Starcross and Exeter. Holcombe and Coryton Cove, to the south, have quieter beaches.
Housing includes Regency and Victorian terraces, post-war homes and newer estates. Many residents are retired, and hilly streets away from the seafront can be challenging.
NHS Devon Integrated Care Board organises local care. Dawlish Community Hospital offers some services, while most operations and emergencies take place at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital or Torbay Hospital. We continue rehabilitation at home.
Goals include walking along the Lawn, strolling the sea wall or visiting Dawlish Warren again.
Dawlish Museum on Barton Terrace covers the town's Regency visitors, including Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, who both wrote about it. The Strand and Brunswick Place hold the bakeries and cafés where locals meet, and Dawlish Carnival in August fills the Lawn with stalls and floats. Lea Mount, on the clifftop above Boat Cove, has benches and sweeping sea views. Teignmouth's pier and the Shaldon ferry are short trips south, often marked as later goals once stamina has improved.

Helping people living with persistent or complex pain improve function and quality of life.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.
