Physiotherapy Services in Dunfermline
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Dunfermline premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Dunfermline became a city in 2022, but its centre still feels like the old royal burgh it was. The Abbey and the ruins of the palace sit on a ridge above Pittencrieff Park, known locally as the Glen, and the lanes that drop from the High Street towards the park are steep and cobbled in places. If you live near the centre, a walk to the shops can involve more slope than people expect, so we often build hill practice into a programme early.
The city has grown a great deal to the east. Duloch, Masterton and the newer streets around Halbeath are mostly modern houses with a staircase straight up from the hall and an upstairs bathroom, while Abbeyview and Touch have more post-war semis and cottage-style flats with a shared external stair. Each layout changes what a sensible first goal looks like after a hip replacement or a fall.
A lot of people set themselves a target in the Glen: reaching the Andrew Carnegie statue, the glasshouse or the peacocks, or managing the slope back up to the Abbey. Others want to get to Dunfermline City station for the Fife Circle trains, or to the Kingsgate centre. We break those trips into stages and practise each one, including kerbs, crossings and resting points.
Hospital care for the area is provided by NHS Fife. Queen Margaret Hospital in the city handles much of the planned care and outpatient work, and the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy is the main acute site. Community rehabilitation is arranged through the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. Our physiotherapists work independently, so bring along any discharge information or exercise sheets you were given and we will build on them rather than starting again.
