Physiotherapy Services in East Grinstead
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no East Grinstead premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
East Grinstead, in Mid Sussex near the Surrey and Kent borders, has one of the longest continuous runs of fourteenth-century timber-framed buildings in England along its High Street. Sackville College, a Jacobean almshouse built in 1609, overlooks the town, and the Queen Victoria Hospital became world-famous during the Second World War when the surgeon Archibald McIndoe treated badly burned airmen, who formed the Guinea Pig Club.
The town sits on a ridge, so roads fall away on several sides, and the walk from the station up to the High Street is a noticeable climb. Homes range from medieval and Victorian houses in the centre to inter-war semis and larger modern estates at Imberhorne and Herontye, many with sloping gardens and steps.
East Grinstead station is the terminus of the line from London via Oxted and also the northern end of the Bluebell Railway, the heritage steam line to Sheffield Park. The Worth Way and the Forest Way, both on old railway lines, give flat, traffic-free walks west and east, and Ashdown Forest, home of Winnie-the-Pooh, rises a few miles to the south.
The Queen Victoria Hospital still provides specialist plastic, reconstructive and burns surgery and a minor injuries unit, with major acute care at the Princess Royal in Haywards Heath or East Surrey in Redhill. Sussex Integrated Care Board plans NHS services, and our private home visits continue recovery after discharge.
Many residents want to get back to the High Street cafés, walks on the Forest Way or visits to Ashdown Forest. We start with the slopes and stairs at home and the hill up from the station, then build towards those outings.
