Physiotherapy Services in Eyemouth
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Eyemouth premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Eyemouth is a busy fishing port where the Eye Water reaches the North Sea, a few miles north of the English border. Boats land prawns, lobster and crab, and grey seals often swim in the harbour waiting for scraps.
In 1881 a sudden storm drowned 189 fishermen, most of them from Eyemouth, and a bronze memorial on the harbour front commemorates them. The Eyemouth Museum tells their story through a tapestry stitched by local people.
Gunsgreen House, an elegant Georgian mansion across the harbour, was built by a smuggler and contains hidden compartments for contraband tea. Its gardens and the harbour walk provide level, interesting short routes.
The Herring Queen festival each July sees a young queen arrive by boat, followed by parades and fireworks. Taking part or watching from the harbour is a popular summer goal for many families.
Borders General Hospital near Melrose provides most surgery and stroke care, though some people go to Edinburgh. Being treated at home avoids lengthy round trips across the Borders while you recover.
Fishermen's cottages near the harbour have narrow, steep stairs and small rooms, while newer homes stand on the hill above. We tailor stair work and transfers to the type of house you live in.
St Abbs, Coldingham and Burnmouth are clustered along the cliffs, with steep lanes down to tiny harbours. The coastal path between them is spectacular but demanding, so it suits only confident walkers later on.
Former fishermen and fish processors often live with shoulder, back or knee problems from years of heavy lifting. Gentle strengthening can ease these and help people keep active in their own community.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
