We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Frome premises to walk into. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Frome is a market town in eastern Somerset, built on hills either side of the River Frome. Its centre is known for steep, cobbled streets such as Catherine Hill and Gentle Street, and for Cheap Street, where a small stream runs down the middle of the paving. The monthly Frome Independent market brings large crowds, and many people want to get back to it.
The hills make Frome a demanding place to recover after an operation or a fall. The Trinity area has some of the earliest planned industrial housing in England, with small terraced cottages and narrow stairs, while Fromefield, Keyford and Packsaddle have Victorian and twentieth-century homes. Berkley Down and Marston Gate on the edges are newer estates with family houses.
The town's Victoria Park has level paths, gardens and a café, and the riverside walk by the Frome gives a flat route through the town. Rodden Meadow nature reserve offers a quieter option. Frome station, at the bottom of the town, has trains towards Bristol, Westbury and London, and the walk back up into the centre is a common goal. Saturday browsing at the independent shops along St Catherine's, the Black Swan arts centre and the Cheese and Grain venue also give people concrete, motivating targets.
Frome Community Hospital provides outpatient, rehabilitation and minor injuries services, while most surgery and emergency care takes place at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. NHS services are planned by the Somerset Integrated Care Board. Our physiotherapists work independently, so share any precautions or exercises you were given and we will continue from there.
