Physiotherapy Services in Glenrothes
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Glenrothes premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Glenrothes was designated as one of Scotland's first post-war new towns in 1948, originally to house workers for a coal mine that closed soon after it opened. The town was later rebuilt around electronics and light industry and is now the administrative centre for Fife. It is known for its artworks, including concrete hippos, and for having many roundabouts.
The town is divided into precincts, such as Pitteuchar, Collydean, Macedonia, Auchmuty, Tanshall and Cadham, each with local shops. Housing is mostly terraced houses and low-rise flats built between the 1950s and 1980s, often with internal stairs and small front steps. Footpaths separate walkers from traffic and connect each precinct with the town centre and its Kingdom Shopping Centre.
Riverside Park, along the River Leven, offers flat paths, a pond and gardens, and is a popular first walking goal. Balbirnie Park, on the north-east edge near Markinch, offers longer woodland walks. Markinch station serves the town, with trains to Edinburgh and Dundee, and many people want to manage the bus into the centre again before attempting a longer journey.
Hospital care is provided by NHS Fife. Most acute and emergency care takes place at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, and Glenrothes Hospital offers community and rehabilitation services. Community support at home is organised by the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. Our home visits are independent, so we are glad to see any discharge letters or exercise plans and work alongside them.
