Physiotherapy Services in Grange-over-Sands
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Grange-over-Sands premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Grange-over-Sands faces Morecambe Bay from the Cartmel peninsula. It grew as a genteel Edwardian resort once the Furness railway arrived, and many residents today have retired here for the views across the sands.
The mile-long promenade runs from the station towards Blawith Point. It is level, has benches at intervals and is tarmac all the way, which makes it one of the best early walking routes on this stretch of coast.
The ornamental gardens beside Main Street, with their duck pond and bandstand, offer short loops of firm paths. Practising turns and stops around the pond is a gentle way to rebuild balance.
Much of the town is built on a hillside. Roads such as Hampsfell Road and Grange Fell Road climb sharply, and some Victorian villas have steep front steps and split-level gardens that we assess carefully.
Hampsfell rises above the town with its stone hospice shelter at the top. Reaching it again is a popular goal for keen walkers recovering from knee or hip surgery, and we plan hill practice towards it.
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay serve the peninsula. Planned joint replacements often take place at Westmorland General in Kendal, with acute care at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary or Furness General in Barrow.
Kents Bank, at the western end of the promenade, has its own station on the cross-bay line. The level crossing and short platform steps are worth practising before a first train trip after surgery.
Cartmel, with its priory and racecourse, lies just over the hill. Visits to its village square and the Sunday markets give a clear, motivating outing once longer walks are possible.
Lindale and Meathop sit by the A590 towards Levens Bridge. Homes there are often detached cottages with garden steps, and we adapt home exercise programmes to the space each house allows.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
