Physiotherapy Services in Haddington
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Haddington premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Haddington is the county town of East Lothian, set in rich farmland beside the River Tyne. Its wide streets and handsome Georgian frontages, especially along Court Street and Market Street, make it one of the best-preserved historic burghs in Scotland. The Town House spire, designed by James Gillespie Graham, rises above the centre.
St Mary’s Parish Church, known as the Lamp of Lothian, is one of the largest medieval parish churches in Scotland and sits in meadows beside the river. The old Nungate Bridge crosses to Giffordgate, traditionally said to be the birthplace of John Knox. Jane Welsh Carlyle, the letter writer and wife of Thomas Carlyle, was also born in the town.
The riverside path from St Mary’s towards Amisfield Park is gentle and pretty, and a former railway line towards Longniddry has been turned into a quiet walking path. Haddington has no station of its own, so most people travel to Edinburgh by bus or drive to Drem or Longniddry for the train.
NHS Lothian provides health care across the county. The East Lothian Community Hospital, opened in Haddington in 2020, offers outpatient and inpatient care, while major surgery is usually at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Our private home physiotherapy fits alongside these services after discharge.
Many patients here live in older stone houses with steep stairs or in newer estates on the edges of town. Goals often include walking to the shops on Market Street, getting down to the river or managing the bus to Edinburgh to visit family.
