Physiotherapy Services in Hawick
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Hawick premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Hawick is the largest town in the Scottish Borders, set where the Slitrig Water meets the River Teviot. It is famous worldwide for knitwear and cashmere, and several mills still operate. The Common Riding each June, with its horseback ride-out round the old boundaries, is the high point of the year. The town centre and High Street sit on the valley floor beside the river.
Many streets climb steeply from the river, with stone terraces and tenement flats on the slopes. Burnfoot, on the north-eastern edge, is a large post-war estate, and Stirches and Silverbuthall have newer houses. Some flats have long common stairs, and the hillside roads can be icy in winter, which we plan around carefully.
Wilton Lodge Park, with its riverside walks, gardens and museum, is the town's main green space and a natural goal for walking practice. The Teviot riverside paths run through the town, and the High Street is where most errands happen. Hawick has no railway station, so buses to Galashiels and the Borders Railway at Tweedbank are the main links.
Hospital care is provided by NHS Borders, with Borders General Hospital near Melrose as the main acute site and the Hawick Community Hospital offering local services. Community rehabilitation is coordinated through the Scottish Borders Health and Social Care Partnership. We visit independently and support people recovering at home.
