Haywards Heath is a Mid Sussex town that grew up around its railway station on the London to Brighton line in the nineteenth century. It remains a busy commuter town, with the station and the shopping streets of South Road and The Broadway at its centre. The ground rises and falls between neighbourhoods, and some roads are noticeably hilly.
Housing includes Victorian villas and terraces near the centre, interwar and post-war semis and bungalows, and modern estates such as Bolnore Village, Northlands Wood and Franklands Village. Bolnore has many three-storey town houses. Lindfield, to the north-east, is an attractive village with a common and a pond. We plan around the house and route you use every day. The Sussex Showground at Ardingly lies just to the north, and Cuckfield's sloping High Street, with its old coaching inns, is a favourite short outing for residents on the western side.
Victoria Park, a few minutes from South Road, is a popular place for walking practice, and the Scrase Valley nature reserve offers woodland paths. Lindfield Common and its pond make a pleasant longer goal. Haywards Heath station has fast trains to London, Gatwick and Brighton, and many people want to manage the station and the train again once they are steady.
