Physiotherapy Services in Heywood
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Heywood premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Heywood is a town in the Rochdale borough, between Bury and Rochdale, close to junction 19 of the M62. It grew rapidly in the nineteenth century around cotton spinning, and the town centre still has a cluster of Victorian buildings around the market and the parish church of St Luke. Today Heywood is known for its large distribution centres as well as its residential estates.
Most older housing is red-brick terraces, especially near the centre and around Hooley Bridge and Heap Bridge, many with steep stairs and a step onto the pavement. Darnhill is a large post-war estate, while Hopwood and the newer developments on the edges have semis and modern family houses. We adapt every programme to the home and route you use.
Queen's Park, with its lake and wide paths, is a popular place to build up walking. The town centre around York Street and the market is where most errands happen. The East Lancashire Railway, the heritage steam line, runs to Heywood from Bury, which can be a motivating trip. There is no mainline station, so buses link Heywood with Rochdale, Bury and Manchester.
Hospital care is mainly provided by the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, at Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, the Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary, which offers urgent care and outpatient services. NHS services are planned by NHS Greater Manchester, the Integrated Care Board for the area. We visit independently and follow your discharge plan.
