Physiotherapy Services in Highworth
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Highworth premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Highworth stands on a ridge north-east of Swindon, with long views across the upper Thames valley towards the Cotswolds and the Vale of White Horse. The hilltop setting means almost every walk out of town involves a slope.
The High Street and Market Place are lined with old stone and brick buildings, many with a step up into the shop. Practising kerbs, doorsteps and crowded pavements is a useful target before a trip into town alone.
St Michael's church, with its sturdy tower, sits beside the centre. Some patients set the walk to a Sunday service as a goal, which gives us a clear route and a reason to keep practising.
Westrop and Eastrop are the larger residential areas, mostly built from the 1960s onwards. Homes there tend to have easier layouts, though split-level gardens and garage steps still need checking on the first visit.
The Recreation Ground off Swindon Road has flat grass and paths with benches. It suits early outdoor practice for people who are not yet ready for the gradients leading down off the ridge.
Most surgery for local people happens at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. Once you are discharged home, we continue the strengthening and walking work that the ward team started.
Sevenhampton and Stanton Fitzwarren are small villages below the town, with country lanes and few pavements. Walking practice there often focuses on uneven verges, field gates and stepping aside for traffic.
Coleshill, with its National Trust estate paths, lies just over the county edge. Gentle parkland walking there is something keen walkers often ask to work towards after a spell of reduced mobility.
Inglesham, near the meeting of the Thames and the old Thames and Severn Canal, is a scattered riverside hamlet. Damp ground and tracks there make good later-stage balance practice when the weather allows.

Rehabilitation of bones, joints, muscles and ligaments following injury, surgery or degenerative change.

Support to improve breathing, endurance and recovery for respiratory and cardiac conditions.

Helping people living with persistent or complex pain improve function and quality of life.
