Physiotherapy Services in Holyhead
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Holyhead premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Holyhead, known in Welsh as Caergybi, is the largest town on Anglesey and sits on Holy Island at the western tip of north Wales. Its ferry port links the A55 and the railway with sailings to Dublin.
The breakwater, the longest in the UK, stretches far out into the sea from Breakwater Country Park. Its flat top is a favourite walk, though wind exposure means we choose calm days for early attempts.
St Cybi's church stands inside the walls of a small late Roman fort above the harbour. The surrounding streets are steep in places, so slope and kerb practice are an important part of local rehabilitation.
Holyhead Mountain rises behind the town towards South Stack lighthouse, with its famous stairway down the cliffs. These are ambitious goals reserved for people who were keen walkers before their injury.
Many homes in Morawelon, Kingsland and Llaingoch are terraces and former council houses on sloping streets. Outdoor steps and narrow hallways often shape how we set up walking aids indoors.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board runs services for the area. Most admissions and planned surgery go to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, with some orthopaedic work in Llandudno or Abergele.
Penrhos Coastal Park, east of the town, has woodland and shoreline paths. The main tracks are reasonably firm and make a good middle-stage walk between the town streets and the rougher coastal path.
Trearddur Bay, to the south, has a sandy beach and a promenade along the bay. Many retired residents there want to return to beach walks, so we build in practice on sand and slopes.
The Celtic Gateway bridge links the station and ferry terminal with the town centre. Managing it, along with bags and station steps, is a useful target for people who travel to Ireland or Chester.
