Physiotherapy Services in Houghton Regis
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Houghton Regis premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Houghton Regis lies on the northern side of Dunstable, close to Luton and the chalk slopes of the Chilterns. Its name records that the manor once belonged to the Crown, and the old village core still gathers around The Green and All Saints Church.
From the 1950s the town expanded quickly as Londoners moved out to new estates such as Tithe Farm and Parkside. Those homes, mostly brick houses and maisonettes with small gardens, make up much of the housing we visit, alongside newer streets at Bidwell West.
Houghton Hall Park is a restored parkland with a visitor centre, wide surfaced paths and woodland edges. It is one of the best places locally for people building up from short walks to longer ones, because there are regular benches and gentle gradients.
The A5 to M1 link road opened in 2017 and has brought large new neighbourhoods to the north of town. Many recent buyers are younger families caring for older relatives, and they often want guidance on how to help safely at home.
Houghton Regis falls under NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board. People here are normally admitted to the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, and we can provide private rehabilitation at home once they are discharged.
Bedford Square holds the main parade of shops, with buses heading into Dunstable and Luton. Popular goals include walking to the square for a coffee, managing the bus step or returning to church services at All Saints.
Out at Thorn and Chalton the lanes are narrow and pavements patchy, so early sessions focus on indoor strength and transfers before we try any walking outside the front door.
For anyone keen to get further afield, the chalk grassland at Puddlehill and the nearby Dunstable Downs offer views and fresh air, though their slopes are a later-stage challenge.
