Physiotherapy Services in Huntingdon
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Huntingdon premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Huntingdon is the historic county town of Huntingdonshire, now part of Cambridgeshire, on the north bank of the River Great Ouse. Oliver Cromwell was born here in 1599 and went to the grammar school that now houses the Cromwell Museum. Samuel Pepys attended the same school a generation later.
A medieval stone bridge crosses the Ouse to Godmanchester, a separate town with its own Chinese Bridge and riverside walks. Portholme Meadow, between the two, is one of the largest meadows in England. Hinchingbrooke Country Park, on the western edge, has a lake, woodland and level gravel paths, which makes it a favourite goal for people building their walking.
Huntingdon expanded considerably as a London overspill town, and the Oxmoor estate dates from that period. Newer homes have been built at Stukeley Meadows, Hartford and around Brampton. The A14 bypass changed the town significantly when it opened, removing the old viaduct.
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care Board plans NHS care, and Hinchingbrooke Hospital is on the edge of town, with more specialist care at Addenbrooke's in Cambridge or Peterborough City Hospital. Our private physiotherapy at home continues the work started in hospital.
Huntingdon station is on the East Coast Main Line with trains to London and Peterborough, and the guided busway links nearby St Ives to Cambridge. Patients often want to walk the High Street again, get to Hinchingbrooke Country Park or manage the bus.
