Physiotherapy Services in Immingham
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Immingham premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Immingham is a port town on the south bank of the Humber estuary in North East Lincolnshire. Its docks, opened in 1912, are among the busiest in Britain by tonnage, and the port shapes much of the local economy.
The Pilgrim Fathers memorial, a granite pillar near the docks, marks the spot from which a group of English Separatists left for the Netherlands in 1608, before later sailing to America.
Kennedy Way shopping centre, the Civic Centre and the Immingham Museum sit together near Pelham Road. A walk to the Kennedy Way shops, or to the market on Fridays, is often the first outing people plan.
Immingham is covered by NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board. Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby treats most people, and some orthopaedic patients go to Goole or Scunthorpe. Our private home sessions can follow on after any of them.
Much of Immingham was built in the 1950s and 1960s to house dock and refinery workers, giving long avenues of semis, bungalows and some maisonettes. The ground is flat, but raised doorsteps and maisonette stairs still cause difficulty.
The refineries at South Killingholme and the Humber bank light up the skyline at night. The Pilgrim Fathers Way and paths round Washdyke and the Roval Drive playing fields offer level ground for walking practice.
Stallingborough and Habrough have railway stations on the Grimsby line, and the A180 links the town with Grimsby and the M180. Lifts from family and the Stagecoach buses along Pelham Road are how most older residents get about.
St Andrew's church in the old village, with Norman stonework, stands apart from the newer town and is reached along Church Lane.
