Physiotherapy Services in Innerleithen
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Innerleithen premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Innerleithen sits where the Leithen Water joins the River Tweed, between Peebles and Galashiels. It grew as a woollen mill town, and several old mill buildings still line the valley floor.
St Ronan's Wells, the spa that made the town fashionable in the 19th century, sits on the hillside above. The climb up to the pump room is a gentle but steady slope that works well for mid-stage practice.
Robert Smail's Printing Works on the High Street, run by the National Trust for Scotland, shows how a small Borders business worked for a century. Its narrow rooms are typical of old buildings in the centre.
The Tweed Valley Railway Path follows the old line along the river towards Walkerburn and Cardrona. It is flat and well surfaced, which makes it one of the best early outdoor walks in the area.
The hills around the town are famous for mountain biking, and many riders we see want to return to the trails. We build strength, balance and reaction work towards that once basic recovery is secure.
Planned surgery for local people usually takes place at Borders General Hospital near Melrose, with some specialist care in Edinburgh. We continue rehabilitation once you are home in the valley.
Houses in Caerlee and around Leithen Road are often stone terraces with steep internal stairs. Newer homes on the edges have easier layouts but may still have sloping drives.
Traquair House, across the Tweed, claims to be the oldest continually inhabited house in Scotland. Its grounds and the walk over the bridge make a pleasant goal for people building their walking range.
Walkerburn, a smaller mill village downstream, has homes on a steep hillside above the main road. Outdoor steps and sloping paths there are a regular part of our early assessment.
