We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Lanark is the historic county town of Lanarkshire, now in South Lanarkshire, on a ridge above the River Clyde. It is one of Scotland's oldest royal burghs, and a statue of William Wallace, who began his rising against the English here in 1297, looks down from St Nicholas Church on the High Street. Each June the town celebrates Lanimer Day, with processions and the crowning of the Lanimer Queen.
New Lanark, the cotton mill village built by David Dale and made famous by the social reformer Robert Owen, sits in the gorge below the town. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Falls of Clyde nature reserve beyond it has woodland paths beside dramatic waterfalls. The path down from Lanark is steep, so it often features as a later rehabilitation target.
Lanark Loch, on the edge of town, has a level path round the water and a café, making it a favourite place for early walks. The High Street and Bloomgate are fairly wide but slope noticeably. Housing includes stone villas and cottages, post-war council estates and newer homes on the outskirts.
NHS Lanarkshire provides local services, together with South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership. Lanark patients are usually treated at University Hospital Wishaw, with some care at Lockhart Hospital in Lanark. Our private home physiotherapy continues the rehabilitation.
Lanark station is the end of the Argyle Line, with trains to Glasgow. For many patients the hopes are a walk round Lanark Loch, a stroll up the High Street or a return to the mills at New Lanark.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.
