Physiotherapy Services in Lincoln
Home Physio And Rehab is based in Harrow, north-west London, and has no clinic or office in Lincoln. Every appointment is a home visit, and the physiotherapist who visits you may be based elsewhere and travel to your home. Whether we can see you depends on your postcode and on therapist availability at the time you ask.
Lincoln is a cathedral city built on a limestone ridge above the River Witham. The historic uphill area around the cathedral and castle has old houses and cottages, often with steps and narrow stairs, while the lower city has Victorian terraces, and estates such as Ermine, Birchwood and Boultham include inter-war and post-war housing. North Hykeham and Nettleham have many bungalows and newer family homes.
The city is famous for Steep Hill, one of the steepest streets in the country, and the climb between the lower and upper city is a real challenge after surgery. The lower city is mostly flat, and Boultham Park, Hartsholme Country Park and the Brayford Waterfront offer level walking. Plans usually start at home and then build towards the outdoor routes you want, whether flat or hilly.
Lincoln County Hospital is the main hospital for the area, providing emergency and orthopaedic care. We are independent of it and of the NHS, and your records will not be sent to us automatically, so please share your discharge letter and any precautions when we first speak.
Lincoln Cathedral, once the tallest building in the world, and Lincoln Castle, home to an original copy of Magna Carta, dominate the uphill area. Bailgate, between the two, has cobbles and old pavements that need careful footwork. The lower city around the High Street and the Brayford Pool is flat, with waterfront restaurants and the University of Lincoln campus nearby. The Lincoln Christmas Market draws large crowds to the steep streets every December. Many people also live in villages across the Lincolnshire Wolds or along the Fossdyke, with longer journeys into the city that make travel planning part of recovery.
