Physiotherapy Services in Litherland
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Litherland premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Litherland is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, just north of Bootle, on the way into Liverpool city centre. It has a close-knit community feel despite sitting in the heart of the Merseyside urban area.
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal curves through Litherland, and the towpath gives a level green corridor running north towards Netherton and Aintree. Hatton Hill Park and Litherland Sports Park provide open grass, walking loops and outdoor sports facilities.
Linacre Road and Sefton Road hold the local shops, and the town has strong links with the docks at Seaforth, which still shape local employment. The poet Wilfred Owen spent time in Litherland while training during the First World War.
Housing is largely Victorian and Edwardian terraces, inter-war council homes and post-war estates, with some newer developments near the canal. Narrow terraced stairs and steps at front doors are common challenges.
NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board commissions services here. Litherland patients are usually treated at Aintree University Hospital, and our private physiotherapy continues their recovery at home.
Seaforth and Litherland station is on the Merseyrail Northern line, with frequent trains into Liverpool and out to Southport. Common goals include walking to Linacre Road, round Hatton Hill Park or along the canal.
The canal towpath between the Litherland bridges and Netherton is flat and well used, so it suits a gradual walking programme with clear landmarks at each bridge.
Many terraced houses here have a single steep staircase with no room for a second rail, so stair practice and safe bathroom access are often early priorities in our plans.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.

Personalised, evidence-based nutrition and dietetic support delivered in the comfort of your home by an HCPC-registered dietitian.
