Longridge is a market town in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire, north-east of Preston. It sits at the foot of Longridge Fell, the most southerly fell in England, and acts as a gateway to the Forest of Bowland.
Club Row, a row of cottages built in the 1790s by a terminating building club, is thought to be among the earliest building society houses in the world. Stone from the town's quarries was used in many buildings in Preston and on the docks at Liverpool.
Berry Lane is the main shopping street, with independent shops, cafés and pubs, and the Civic Hall hosts community events. The old Longridge railway line once carried stone to Preston, and parts of its route survive as paths.
Housing includes stone terraces near the centre, Victorian villas, post-war estates and many newer homes on the edges of town. Hilly streets and steps are common challenges for people recovering from injury.
NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board commissions care. Longridge patients are usually treated at Royal Preston Hospital, and we provide private physiotherapy at home once someone is discharged.
Buses run regularly to Preston and Clitheroe, and the M6 is a short drive west. Common goals include walking to Berry Lane, round the local parks or onto the lower paths of the fell.
The lower tracks on Longridge Fell are steep and rough in places, so we usually build stamina on the town's flatter streets and parks first.
The Towneley Gardens and Kestor Lane areas offer quieter, more level pavements, which suit early walking practice close to home.

Support to improve breathing, endurance and recovery for respiratory and cardiac conditions.

Helping people living with persistent or complex pain improve function and quality of life.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.
