Physiotherapy Services in Lyme Regis
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Lyme Regis premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Lyme Regis tumbles down a steep valley to the sea on the Dorset and Devon border. Almost every route from the upper town to the seafront involves a climb, which shapes our rehabilitation priorities from the outset.
The Cobb, the curving stone harbour wall, is the town's famous landmark. Its upper surface is uneven and sloping, so we treat a stroll along the lower walkway as a sensible first aim before the top.
Fossil hunting made Lyme famous through Mary Anning, and the beaches towards Charmouth still draw collectors. Shingle and wet rock are demanding footing, so beach walks come once your balance has been tested on firmer surfaces.
Broad Street rises sharply from the sea to the top of town, lined with shops and cafes. We break that hill into stages, using benches and shop stops as rest points while building leg strength between sessions.
Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester and the Royal Devon University Hospital in Exeter carry out most operations for residents here. Once you are discharged, we continue the exercise plan begun on the ward.
Many homes cling to the hillsides with steps up to the front door and split-level layouts inside. We check every threshold, banister and bathroom on the first visit and suggest simple adaptations where they help.
Marine Parade runs flat along the bay towards the Cobb, giving one of the few level walks in Lyme. It is our usual outdoor starting point, with the Langmoor and Lister Gardens above it as the next step.
Uplyme sits up the Lim valley just inside Devon, with lanes that climb and dip. Residents there often walk down into Lyme, so we prepare hips and knees for long downhill stretches as well as the return.
Charmouth, along the coast to the east, has its own beach and heritage centre. Rousdon and Combpyne are scattered rural spots where a car is essential, so getting in and out of one safely is practised early.

Specialist care for women through pregnancy, after birth and beyond.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.
