Physiotherapy Services in Lynton
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Lynton premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Lynton stands high on the cliffs of the north Devon coast inside Exmoor National Park, with Lynmouth far below at the river mouth. The steep link between the two is the defining challenge of daily life here.
The Cliff Railway, powered only by water, has carried passengers between Lynton and Lynmouth since 1890. It spares many residents the zigzag path, but getting on and off the cars still needs confident stepping.
The Valley of Rocks lies just west of town, with wild goats grazing among dramatic crags. The road through it is fairly level and makes an excellent stamina walk once you are steady out of doors.
Lee Road and Queen Street form the small centre, with the town hall, shops and chapels. Pavements are narrow in places and kerbs are high, so we practise stepping up and down with control before you head out alone.
North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple manages most surgery and emergency care for the area. Patients can face a long winding drive home over the moor, and we often start by easing stiffness that journey leaves behind.
Victorian villas and guest houses here frequently have several floors and long stair runs. We plan room use around the stairs early on, and add rails or step practice so upper floors are safe again.
Lynmouth, rebuilt after the 1952 flood, gathers around its harbour and the East Lyn river. The riverside path towards Watersmeet is a lovely target, with rough stretches that suit the later stages of recovery.
Barbrook lies just inland on the road towards Barnstaple. Its residents rely heavily on driving, so we rehearse car transfers and checking that you can sit comfortably for longer trips.
Countisbury, Brendon and Martinhoe are tiny moorland and coastal settlements reached by steep, narrow lanes. Weather on the exposed hills can change quickly, which we bear in mind when planning outdoor practice.

Specialist home-based rehabilitation to improve movement, strength, balance and independence for people living with neurological conditions.

Helping older adults maintain mobility, strength and independence safely at home.

Safe, structured recovery after surgery to restore strength, mobility and function at home.
