Physiotherapy Services in Nantwich
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Nantwich premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Nantwich is a historic market town in Cheshire East, on the River Weaver. Like Northwich, it grew on salt, and its brine baths later made it a small spa. A great fire in 1583 destroyed much of the town, and Elizabeth I contributed to the rebuilding, which is why so many fine black-and-white timber-framed buildings survive, including Churche's Mansion and the Crown Hotel.
In January 1644 the Battle of Nantwich lifted a Royalist siege, and the town celebrates Holly Holy Day each year with a re-enactment. St Mary's Church, with its octagonal tower, dominates the town square. The pedestrianised centre is compact and fairly level, and the Riverside Park and Nantwich Lake give flat paths beside the water.
The Shropshire Union Canal passes the town on an aqueduct and offers a level towpath, while Reaseheath College, an agricultural college, lies to the north. Housing ranges from historic cottages and Georgian townhouses to post-war estates and large newer developments at Stapeley and Kingsley Fields.
Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board plans NHS services. Nantwich patients are usually treated at Leighton Hospital near Crewe. Our private home physiotherapy builds on that treatment once people are home.
Nantwich station has trains to Crewe and Shrewsbury. Patients often want to stroll round the town square, walk by the lake or follow the canal towpath again.
Every January the town marks Holly Holy Day, recalling the 1644 Battle of Nantwich with re-enactors parading in Civil War costume. Salt made Nantwich wealthy, and its outdoor brine pool is one of the few inland saltwater baths in Britain. Welsh Row has some of the finest Georgian and timber-framed houses in Cheshire, while the riverside path beside the Weaver and the Shropshire Union aqueduct give quiet, level walking. The International Cheese Awards, held each summer, draw producers from around the world.
