Physiotherapy Services in Newtownards
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Newtownards premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Newtownards sits at the northern tip of Strangford Lough in County Down and is the main town of Ards and North Down. Scrabo Tower, on the hill above the town, is visible from all over the peninsula, and the market square with its eighteenth-century town hall forms the heart of the centre.
The older streets around Regent Street and Frances Street have terraced houses close to the shops, while West Winds, Glen and Bowtown include large post-war estates. Newer developments have spread along the Comber Road and towards Movilla, and many older residents live in bungalows on the edge of town.
The shoreline path along Strangford Lough, heading towards the airfield and beyond, is flat and open, ideal for rebuilding walking stamina. Londonderry Park in the town is closer and has level paths, while the trails in Killynether Wood below Scrabo suit people ready for gradients and uneven ground.
The Ulster Hospital at Dundonald, managed by the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, is where most Newtownards residents go for surgery and emergency care, and Ards Hospital provides some local services. The same Trust arranges community rehabilitation. Our private service is independent of the Trust, and your discharge papers help us plan.
Frequent buses run along the main road to Belfast and around the Ards Peninsula, and the Ards Shopping Centre is a popular short-walk goal. People often want to manage the bus into Belfast again, or to cope with the steps and slopes around the square and the market.
