Physiotherapy Services in Norwich
Norwich is the county town of Norfolk and its largest settlement, and it lies much further from London than the other places in this hub. It grew up inside a loop of the River Wensum, and its medieval centre, with the cathedral, the castle and the market, is still full of narrow lanes and old buildings. Home Physio And Rehab does not have a clinic or office in Norwich. Physiotherapy takes place in your own home, and the physiotherapist who visits may travel from elsewhere. Because Norwich is some distance from our other areas, please check your postcode on this page before assuming either way.
The city council area is quite tight, and many addresses people think of as Norwich, including Hellesdon, Sprowston, Thorpe St Andrew and Costessey, actually sit in Broadland or South Norfolk. Inside the city, Mile Cross and Lakenham have large areas of inter-war council housing, the Golden Triangle off Unthank Road has Victorian terraces with tall stairs, and Eaton and Earlham have a mix of semis, bungalows and flats. These are examples of the homes we see, not a promise of coverage.
Norfolk has an older population than much of England, and many people in and around Norwich live alone or with a partner who also has health needs. That shapes what we focus on. Early goals are usually about staying safe at home: getting up from a chair or the bed, managing the stairs or the step down into a bungalow garden, and knowing how to get help after a fall. We give you exercises you can manage between sessions and, if you want, show family members how to help.
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, at Colney on the western edge of the city, is run by Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and many people in the area come home from there after a fracture, a stroke or a planned operation. Home Physio And Rehab is independent and is not part of the NHS or of that trust. Please keep your discharge letter and any precautions for your first visit.
Later on, goals often move outside: a walk through the lanes around Elm Hill and the cathedral close, a trip to the market stalls by City Hall, or a gentle stretch of the riverside walk along the Wensum. If the Broads or the coast matter to you, we can talk about what it would take to get back to a day out there safely.
