Physiotherapy Services in Poole
Home Physio And Rehab is based in Harrow, north-west London, and has no clinic or office in Poole. Every appointment is a home visit, and the physiotherapist who visits you may be based elsewhere and travel to your home. Whether we can see you depends on your postcode and on therapist availability at the time you ask.
Poole stretches around one of the largest natural harbours in the world, from the old town and quay to Hamworthy, Parkstone, Broadstone and the big post-war estates at Canford Heath and Creekmoor. Homes range from older cottages near the quay and Edwardian houses in Parkstone to bungalows in Broadstone and Upton and a growing number of apartment blocks overlooking the water, some with lifts and some without.
Poole Park and the harbourside are largely flat and popular for gentle walks, while the land rises in Parkstone and Lilliput, with some steep hills down towards the water and Sandbanks. We often start with getting in and out of bed, chairs and the car, then work towards walks around the park lake, trips to the quay or the bus into town.
Poole Hospital and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital provide hospital care across the area, including planned orthopaedic surgery and emergency treatment. We are not part of either hospital or the NHS, so we rely on you to share discharge information, exercise sheets and any movement restrictions you have been given.
Life in Poole often revolves around the water, from sailing clubs at Lilliput to fishing boats moored at the quay. Upton Country Park on the edge of Holes Bay has firm paths, a walled garden and a tearoom, which give a clear reason to keep going a little further each week. Ferries to Brownsea Island and boat trips from the quay involve gangways and steps, so people who want to get back on the water practise stepping up and down with a rail beforehand. Bus routes along Ashley Road link Parkstone with the town centre and Bournemouth, and stepping on and off safely is a practical milestone.
