Physiotherapy Services in Portishead
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Portishead premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Portishead is a coastal town in North Somerset, on the Severn estuary west of Bristol. It was once a port with power stations and docks, but the dock has been transformed into a marina surrounded by new housing, the Village Quarter. The Lake Grounds, a Victorian seaside park with a boating lake, and the Battery Point lighthouse are well-known landmarks.
The old town and the High Street sit inland, while the newer marina developments include many apartments and three-storey town houses. Redcliffe Bay and West Hill, on the hills above the coast, have semis and bungalows on steep roads. Many residents are older people who have moved here to retire, and we plan around their homes and routes.
The Lake Grounds and the marina give level walking, and the coastal path towards Clevedon is a harder, hilly goal. The High Street and the Waitrose area are the usual places for errands. Portishead has no railway station at the moment, so buses to Bristol are the main link.
Most hospital care is provided at Southmead Hospital and the Bristol Royal Infirmary in Bristol. NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire plans services for the area. We visit independently and can follow on from any physiotherapy you started in hospital.
Battery Point, the headland beside the Lake Grounds, has steep paths and steps up to the old gun emplacements, so it suits later stages. The open-air pool, a 1960s lido overlooking the estuary, reopened after restoration and attracts swimmers year round. A restored passenger railway to Bristol has long been planned, and many people are keen to use it once it opens.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
