Physiotherapy Services in Portstewart
We run the service from Harrow in north-west London; there is no Portstewart premises to walk into. Sessions take place in your own home, and the clinician assigned to you may be travelling in from elsewhere. We can only confirm a visit once we know your full postcode and which therapists are free when you get in touch.
Portstewart is a seaside town on the Causeway Coast in County Londonderry, a few miles north of Coleraine. Its curved Promenade, with cafés, ice cream shops and the small harbour, has drawn holidaymakers since Victorian times.
Portstewart Strand, cared for by the National Trust, is a long sandy beach backed by dunes at the western end of town. The coastal path links the Promenade with the Strand and continues eastwards towards Portrush.
The Dominican College stands on the headland above the harbour, and the town has a strong link with nearby Ulster University in Coleraine. Many streets climb from the seafront, giving views over the Atlantic.
Homes include Victorian terraces near the Promenade, bungalows, holiday homes and newer estates in Cromore and Agherton. Sea-view houses often have steps up from the road.
Portstewart is covered by the Northern Health and Social Care Trust. People are usually treated at Causeway Hospital in Coleraine, and we provide private physiotherapy at home after discharge.
Coleraine station is the nearest railway link, and Ulsterbus services connect Portstewart with Coleraine and Portrush. Common goals include walking the Promenade, getting down to the Strand or meeting friends at a seafront café.
The Promenade is level and has benches looking out to sea, which makes it a good first outdoor walk after a hip or knee operation.
Sand at the Strand and the coastal path to Portrush are more demanding, so we treat them as later goals once balance and stamina are stronger.

Reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, confident movement at home and in the community.

Assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor to support bladder, bowel and core function.

Supporting people living with or recovering from cancer to rebuild strength and quality of life.
